Dr Ben Thai
Principal Dentist
Dr Ben Thai graduated with Honours in Dentistry from University of Queensland. In his studies, he was also awarded the Gordon Christiansen prize for highest achievement in oral and maxillofacial surgery. He is currently a part-time clinical supervisor at the University of Queensland Dental School.
Ben established Underwood Dental Care in October 2009, having had prior experience in other private practices in the south side of Brisbane as well as public dental clinics in Townsville. Ben’s vision for Underwood Dental Care was to treat all our patients with a high quality of care and respect. It is important to see dentistry from our patients’ point of view, which allows us to improve on providing the creature comforts that set us apart. Ben has a gentle and caring chair-side manner and takes care in presenting and explaining in detail, treatment plan alternatives in all areas of modern Dentistry. He has a special interest in Orthodontics, Cosmetic dentistry and children’s dentistry.
Outside of Dentistry, Ben enjoys spending time with his young family, travelling and dining around Brisbane’s yummiest eateries.
Dr Amos Wong
PRINCIPAL Dentist
Dr Amos Wong graduated from the University of Queensland with Honours in Dental Science. He grew up and spent the earlier days of his childhood in Malaysia, and later migrated to Australia with his family in 2008. Currently, Dr Amos works at the University of Queensland Dental School as a Supervising Dentist, and has been awarded a Associate Lecturer title.
Dr Amos enjoys taking care of his patients’ health through dentistry, which he views as a privilege. He particularly enjoys preventive, restorative and the surgical aspects of modern dentistry. He is committed to providing the best dental care to all his patients, treating each one of them with respect and care.
Outside of dentistry, Dr Amos is involved in leading a Christian youth group in Sherwood and enjoys free time playing sports and fishing. Last year was a bad fishing year for him, but he is optimistic about the new year! Do ask him to show you a picture of him with his a massive flat head!
Kim Tran
Oral Health Therapist
As an Oral Health Therapist, Kim’s role is to work closely with Dr Ben to ensure all his patients are provided with comprehensive dental care and oral health education. Over the years, Dr Ben has worked hard to get his loyal patients to a maintenance level, and Kim’s role is exactly that- to spend the time to ensure all our wonderful patients’ teeth and gums are always in top condition. Dr Ben, and our team of dentists will still oversee treatment plans, and any dental treatment should it be required.
Kim graduated from University of QLD in the same cohort as Dr Ben, and has undertaken post graduate studies at the University of Sydney to expand her skills in adult restorative procedures. Having worked in private practice in the South-Western suburbs of Brisbane, she brings with her a wealth of experience that includes but is not limited to maintenance and preventative dentistry, and routine restorative procedures. Kim also enjoys looking after our younger patients, having two young boys herself, and caring for the oral health of our future generations.
Outside of dentistry, Kim enjoys cycling, cooking and spending time with her young family. Kim is bilingual and is fluent in English and Vietnamese.
Dr Bianca Chai
Dentist
Dr Bianca Chai graduated from the University of Queensland with Honours in Dental Science. Growing up and spending her entire childhood in Malaysia, Bianca left home to pursue tertiary education here in Australia. Having spent the past 5 years in Brisbane, she has been enjoying every bit of her time here.
Bianca is committed to providing quality dental care and takes great pleasure in helping others through dentistry. Improving oral health and its awareness within the community is a passion that she seeks to be part of and involved in daily. She spends time to clearly communicate treatment options and welcomes questions you may have. With her warm and gentle nature, she ensures that her patients are well taken care of at every visit.
Outside of dentistry, Bianca enjoys reading, playing piano and spending time with friends over good food.
Dr Daphne Ho
Dentist
Daphne was born in Darwin and spent her childhood years in Singapore before migrating to Brisbane with her family. She completed a Bachelor of Oral Health in Dental Science and Master of Dentistry with distinction at Griffith University. Prior to working at Underwood Dental Care, Daphne worked in private practice in the Lockyer Valley.
Daphne is a caring and gentle dentist who loves getting to know her patients and making them comfortable so that they leave with a smile. She enjoys all aspects of dentistry, but particularly likes family dentistry and prosthodontics. Daphne loves to treat patients of all ages but gets along especially well with young children – she even knows how to make balloon animals!
Outside of the clinic, Daphne enjoys playing piano for her church, keeping active with tennis and a good catch-up with friends and family over bubble tea.
