Dentures

The advancement of dental materials now creates dentures that are more comfortable, more durable and fit better than your parents and grandparents ever imagined. Many people, who are missing one tooth, several teeth or all their teeth can benefit from dentures greatly.

Without the support from teeth and dentures, facial muscles collapse into the jaw space, creating an aged appearance in one’s facial profile. With dentures, you will be able to eat and speak- things that people often take for granted until their natural teeth are gone.

A full or Complete Denture is a removable appliance that replaces all the natural teeth. It can be made to replace the upper teeth, lower teeth or both upper and lower teeth.

A full denture can be immediate. The denture is constructed before the teeth are removed, the teeth are removed and the denture is immediately placed in the mouth. The advantage is that a person is never without teeth during the healing period. An immediate denture will always require a reline because the tissues of the mouth will change as healing occurs. A qualified dentist will always fit the immediate denture if it is required.

A Partial Denture is a removable appliance that fills the spaces that remain when teeth are lost. A partial denture may replace one or many teeth. There are many materials partial denture bases can be made from. Acrylic Resin and Chrome Cobalt alloys are the most common types, however Valplast flexible dentures are also becoming more popular. Valplast is a flexible, metal- free nylon thermoplastic compound that provides a comfortable alternative to the traditional metal partial dentures.

Artificial denture teeth are designed to have the look and feel of natural teeth. Each tooth can be positioned individually and naturally to give a denture more a more realistic appearance- simply speak to your dentist about any specific requests you may have.

All our dentures are made in Australia by a local laboratory, Garden City Dental Prosthetics.
